After only getting 1 barra into the boat last friday and after some very hot days up here we decided to hit lake awoonga again last nite.
We set out about 5pm and cruised down about 900m from our launcing spot to a few little inlets and bays that hold the warm water. Already there was lots of surface action with still 1.5hrs of daylight left.
We both setup with about a 1m+ lure each and flicked around over the weeds for about an hour and after a few lovetaps (just enough to keep us interested) I latched onto a nice 110cm specimen.
We fished snags, the windy side, the calm side and had the best luck in the middle of them both, not long after my mate was on again with a slightly larger about 115cm. then it went quite for a couple of hours with a few decent hits, and 2 sets of bent trebles.
I decided to go deeper and put on a 3m lure and first cast was a solid strike so threw back beside the big tree and whack! it was on again. this one was slightly smaller about 105cm but geez it gave a great fight and nice acrobatics...
we decided to head in about 1am and trolled on the way back where we hooked up again to a monster 120cm after some fun play we got it in the boat for happy snaps and let it go again. Another few hundred meters down we were struck again and in it came..
So all up it was 5 barra in the boat(all released), 2 grinning blokes, 1 lure donated to the cause, 3 sets of bent trebles, too much roughed up leader to count and 1 missing plugga..
