works fine with 30pd braid, might need to thumb spool if fishing tight . I run 6pd for bass and 30pd for barra. Super light reel smooth as silk. i get sick of changing line, but its worth the hassle. Top reel.

i run 2 with 3olb no worries at all, limited line is the only factor but for trolling i use a larger reel anyway.

I just purchased an alphas type R and it did the job nicely in Darwin last week. I will be getting a spare spool for mine so changing line wont be an issue. As stated above line capacity is the only drama and the big boys in the dam might make short work of the lighter drag. Ill still be using mine up there come december.

Have a sol myself and lov it. The best baitcaster ive ever owned. No worries they are tough as they come...i upgraded mine with carbontex washers and lapped the metal washers and it pulls big drag with 30lb braid no worries. Get some bass hard pe still end up with plenty of line with the big drag upgrade. Very hard to beat!
