It's because the page auto loads some of its info every little while, this is fine without the bug, this bug will half way through the forced partial refresh consider your cursor as no longer in the typing field....sooooo that input you type which is in keeping with the word processing field gets carried out as if your cursor is no longer in the field but on the page proper. Bang!! post gone forever.
To stop it you need to stop the forced partial refresh whenever you plan to post something.

Type a reply into notepad or word then copy and paste it into the forum.

I have had this a couple of times, I am running the latest version of IE.
When I know I am going to be doing a fair amount of typing I tend to do it in word first to save loosing my work:( from what I have seen it happens due to a Internet connection failure or timeout witch isn't Ausfish's fault.
cheers

i get it all the time... i'm scared to press the backspace key because then you go back like 10 pages.
i'm running latest version of IE.
steve, is it a bug with the scripting on this site... can the problem be rectified for the majority of people.

LG what kind of internet connection do you have? if its ADSL, does it appear to be fairly quick? If not then that is probably the problem mate:( Easy fix is to use word then paste the text into the box and hit post;)

LG, I would recommend downloading and using firefox, leaves IE for dead in the speed stakes and easier to use. Does microsoft ever get anything right?

The latest version of Internet Exploder is Version 8 Beta 2.
You can get it from here - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/default.mspx
Or download Firefox here - http://getfirefox.com/

just saying that for the xx,xxx amount of members on here who don't use firefox and the like it's a real pain in the butt.
at home i use IE6.0 because i think it's better than the current one. but at work i have the latest one. but on both i get the probs.
i run broadband. the flash in quick, and when it gets you on a backspace key it really stuffs ya up.. doesn't happen every time the page reloads, usually gets you when you've written a big post :P

Please post the full version info on all versions you use so I can load the exact version and test it. It sounds like you are not running the latest version.
I have tested it on the current version 8 beta and can not get it to do it.
Like most members here, I believe Firefox is a faster and better browser, less bugs and better security. It only takes a few minutes to install.
