hey guys,
I usually use the normal round pots for crabbing and set them over night. but for the first time we are going to go through the day and i am going to use dillies. I was just after any hints or tips for using dillies. and how long you should wait befor checking them.
thanks everyone

20 minutes max for a normal dilly.
otherwise the crabs will wreck the netting.
the other option is to get the hoop type bucket dillies that lay flat on the bottom and turn into a bucket when lifted. You can buy them at crab'n'gear.

Greetings!
Leave them in for 20-30 minutes. If the crabs are tangled very badly then just cut them out. Make certain you cut the minimum number of threads. To seal the hole just use the smallest cable ties you can find. Cut the long tabs off after repairing the net.

all i can say is make sure you lift them stright up, if you pull them side ways sometimes you can tip the crabs out. i leave my dillies for half an hour
