headed out early s/e of seaway to a spot in 37m, first drop pullled up a 3or4kg snaps, a fair bit of bait around but not much chasing, caught 2 more smaller snaps, all on plastics ranging from gulps atomics and squidgies. pretty quiet day...

Well we went out around the 24's way too quiet :'( one bucket fish ( red rock cod) a few lazy hits / pickers and alot of charter boats, but a show from the whales, not alot of current, and a bloke at the ramp asking to measure snaps and mackerel, he said there was not alot to measure, but a nice day out 8-)

current wasnt too bad, from what i could tell, we were doing a 1-2kmph drift with sea anchor, easy enough to get down with 1oz jighead. does that help?

We fished the 24s from 4.30 am and went ok till about 6.
Thanks for the tip with the squid frangas. The first two to hit the drink accounted for nice little knobbies. Ended with 4 snapper and a bucket of trag. we ventured out to the 36s but nothing to show for our efforts there. current was fairly strong. 16 snapper leads wouldnt hold bottom.

PS. I side hooked a nice pinkie with a gang hooked pillie and squid combo on the bait runner and after a slow return to the boat the bloody thing launched itself out of the water about 10m behind the boat. Never seen a jumping snapper.
PPS i wasnt smoking anything and I have witnesses.

I fished 35-40M out the GC on Saturday. Couldn't get out until after 10am though so it was fairly quiet.
Dropped a solid fish on a pillie but apart from that didn't find anything to keep.
Plenty of whales on show though.
Current was slow but the wind did pick up in the arvo.

Yeah we were out on the 36's, very strong current, not much action either, Did any of you guys see 5 markers with 3 red flags and 2 yellow flags out that way?

Great to see the pillie squid frangas worked for you tenzing :)
got the idea from this illistration a mate of mine did, went out to 24's again on monday but didn't boat anything :-/ , I think I'll have to try skill next time and not rely on luck, the sounder showed no fish anywhere ! ? , but the ocean glassed off and just left rolling swells that you could hold WOT for miles and that made the trip worthwhile ;D cheers.
