Gday fishos,
Apologies if this question sounds stupid but, Does the colour of line matter to fish? Or is it just the width that matters most?
Ive seen some different fluro coloured lines (pink, yellow) that i think would stand out like dogs nuts to fish.
cheers dunkx

dunk pretty sure the theory behind coloured lines is that most of these colours are colours that are rapidly absorbed underwater meaning 5 m underwater pink line doesn't look pink

Line colour dosnt matter that much. The stealthy part of your line is your leader.
eg hi vis line aids the anglers ability to see to line, mono or fluro leader aids the angler in making the business end of the main line stealthy to your quarry

I think it is different between braid and mono too.
mostly with braid there is between 2 and 5 meters of clear mono leader on the end of the braid.
those of us that fish mono genearly do not run a leader rather a trace which is different... but I am thinking about it.
I was sceptical so I chucked some in a bucket of water and the coulour disapears quite a bit.
I recon in realy clear water it will still be a problem.
I like the yellow line because I can see where I am casting.
I can see a lot of advantages to ruining a heavier clear leader on a lighter mono line....or even a lighter clear mono leader.
It does mean you have to learn a couple of fancy knots.
cheers
