Left Mooloolaba Lunch time yesterday for a half day trip to the Barwons with four on board.
Seas choppy on way out and arrived at first mark eager to wet a line as the weapon hasn't been out for a few months.
Drifted over a couple of marks for a few large moses pearch, parrot and small snapper.
Went to the productive marks around 4pm for a early night session with the full moon. We were eager to boat some good fish as the moon appeared over the horizon but by then the wind from the NE started to blow and it was hard to stay on the mark.
Good fish started to come on board but the Coast Guard issued a strong wind warning around 5pm so the trip was cut short with the fish starting to fire.
We headed home at 5.30pm with the seas and swells rising but we were happy as we had a good feed of reefies and a few snapper.
Pic attached.
Cheers

One person fished with plastics for nil score (he got hooked up on wireweed often)
and he changed to bait for immediate change of luck.
All large fish caught on large strips of fresh mullet using snood rigs.
No current as 8 ball sinkers were going straight down but wind was a real problem at the end as we were getting pushed off the mark.

Barry was coming in as you boys were leaving the snapper were very thin on the ground noticably by your results also, though the mixed reef were the saviour adding a lot of colour ,especially those spangles i was getting bricked on 80lb braid like it was nothing though they were bigger specimens.

Bout time you blokes got that boat in the drink!!! Good to see a trip was had but pity about the wind picking up so quick. I had the same thing happen last time I headed to the banks, they came on the bite just as it picked up! Good feed there of mixed specimens. Talk soon Barry, Deano.....

Samson,
We only fished our closer marks in 65 metres. Looks like the bulk of the snapps have headed out to the deeper water. The crew got busted up on the wireweed by some big spanglies about three times.

I think you made the right call mate the snapper seem to have despersed i worked the deep for very poor results quality fish but stuff all of them, only when i came in and started fishing the shallow stuff in 50m did i start weaving together a nice mixed bag in a couple of hours after dark, i should have stayed in their but kept trying the deep for drips and drabs.
