hi all
prob a stupid question but was wondering if any of you could suggest a small commercial vehicle to tow a smallish tinny around (say 3.7 metre). i need a smallish one due to the garage not being v big also due to fuel costs. was thinking along the lines of a bravo or triton or something along those lines/size. doesnt have to be 4wd as long as it has enough grunt to get the boat out off a slippery ramp.
i only have a holden barina SRI at the moment and cant really purchase another tinny unless i change cars as its a tad small
any suggestions?
thanks all

You dont need a big car to pull a 3.7m tinny. I pull my 3.4m boat with a fair load in it out of the water no problem with a 1.5L lancer.

Any 4cyl ute will do the job without and problems ever. Opt for a 4wd version if you would like to head away offroad towing the boat.

What do you want to spend? Slippery ramps being used? A second hand sierra or jimny would be ample.

Hi. I have a Ford Courier ute and I am towing a 4.5m fibreglass half cab ( heavy boat) with a 60hp 4 stroke loaded with gear and 2 fuel tanks. I think the 2.6 motor is just perfect for this. Sometimes if you are not alert you can skid the wheels if you want to stop suddenly. I think if I had some brakes on the trailer it would be perfect. In your case I think it would be over kill for a 3.7m tinny. Good luck anyway. Mark

Gees I tow my little tiny around with the rideon.
I'd be asking the Holden dealer about the towing capacity of your existing car to get you going.
All up the weight would be under 500kg for the tinny etc etc.

great idea finga, i'll get onto that.
i was looking to spend anthing from $5-10K for a decent 2nd hand car to do the job. i used to have a sierra and a 3.7m tinny until an old lady collided head-on with me on the highway, writing off the car and boat, so...
thanks to all who have answered my query, thats a good starting point.
cheers all
