View Full Version : which reel would best suit 50lb line

my mate is taking me fishing for bullsharks soon and i have a spool of 50lb braid that i wouldnt mine using as i probably wouldnt use it for anything else.
which reels would it be best suited to.

I have a
* shimano baitrunner 6500
* stradic 8000
* penn spinfisher 850

Penn Spinfisher 850. I use 24kg on mine and it works a treat. They were built bullet proof but are a bit agricultural by many of todays standards. Run the HT 100 Drag washer dry with a touch of grapgite if you want max drag. I run mine wet with a little Erskine grease and can pull 8kg with no worry.

They must be some BIG Bullies to be chasing with that sort of gear. Most people use 10kg.

nah im just chasing whatever jumps on but i got this spool of 50lb doing nutting so i thoguht i might use it. the spinfisher is one of the new "cheaper chinese" ones if that matters

I don't know Benny. I qam yet to hear any problems with the newer Spinfishers but everyone is a bit cautious about them. This might be a great test for them
