Hi all ausfishers, this is aimed at the people that fish port phillip bay. Well im 16 and really enjoy going out fishing even if we dont catch anything its still fun. Dad and I just brought our first boat about 6 months ago and it is a quintrex 420 estuary angler. We have been out in it alot in the barwon river near Ocean Grove, we have caught alot of little whiting, flathead, salmon, trevalley.
Now we are wanting to go out after some bigger fish in Port Phillip bay. We have been out twice and got about 4 nice flathead and nothing the other time. We are wanting to get some big snapper becuase we have never caught anything that is a good fighter. We will we launching from the Clifton Spring boat ramp and heading out from there. It will have to be a nice calm day for us becuase our boat isnt very big. We have a fishfinder in the boat but not a gps.
My questions are how deep of water should I be in chasing good size snapper, what sort of burley (is the frozen one from the bp servo ok to use), what pound line and trace will I need, whats the best bait and any other tips would be helpful to.
Thanks alot for any help
