Hello all, just wondering which line you would recomend. Iam sick of buying cheap mono as after only a few short trips and and some fish, it gets bloody useless and starts to tangle. What line would be best for me to get- I want 15-20lb to use estuary fishing- for jew, threadies etc- that doesn't tangle up so quickly. what is the best type mono,(what is the difference between mono and :) fluro) fluro or braid- I don't want to spend too much. Cheers

with braid its either a love it or hate it product.
with alot of people that had been continually using mono when alot of others have been using braid, regularly favour mono.
platypus platinam would be the go if u dont like braid.
but if u were willing to give braid a go try on suffix performance braid.
with fluro i cant really give u an honest answer cause i havnt used it much as a base line. fluro line is made by combining a carbon base and other materials to form a line that is almost invisible underwater. it doesnt have the same memorya s mono and can spill off the spool when not under any load.. thats just from my short encounter with it..

i have been using berkley trilene for a long while now. i mainly fish 10kg and 24kg and use the 37kg as leader. the stuff is great for the price. buy in bulk.
if you are spooling up a spin reel, make sure you take the line from the spool in an anti-clockwise direction. lay one face of the spool on the ground. to check it isn't twisting stop winding on and put some slack between your reel and spool of line, if it twists, then you are loading up in the wrong direction. turn the spool of line over onto the other face. also, there are plenty of crap swivels out there. use ones that work. i try and use a bearing swivel all the time.

not too sure why cheap mono will tangle any more than good mono, unless you are getting lots of twist or something, in which case expensive line will be just the same, and a tangle in Braid is a recipe for a suicide attempt!

As stated above I would be looking at rigs and techniques to stop the twist. When spinning I had issues with Platinum but Penn 10X worked OK. Platinum was great for other uses

Drop the size of your swivels to as close as possible to your breaking strain of line. The larger the swivel the less likely it will perform at its best with lighter line. No point having a 24kg swivel whilst using 4kg line, it just does not do the job properly regardless of if it is the most exy ball bearing swivel you can find or not.
Nylon mainlines i prefer Maxima.
Flurocarbon mainlines i prefer Berkley Vanish
Braids is wide open and too hard to predict your preferences for your style of fishing and line characteristics preferences.
Always use a good quality leader however and preferably a flurocarbon IMO.
