navara noise

Howdy

Just bougth a Navara d40 3l goes pretty good, except when I tow the boat there is a rattle that gets worse when you put the foot into it, for the life of us we cannot find it ti seems to be behind dash, any ideas?

Timing could be out or quite possibly it has an exhaust leak at the manifold or flange,(it is a nissan you know)

try the bonnet. if you can do it safely, pop the bonnet when you get the rattle. The safety latch will stop it flying open, but I would still want to be travelling slowly. Mine rattles and squeeks, the rattle came when the dealer tried to stop the squeek by winding in the bonnet stops.
