I would really like to get a rod building session happening in Townsville.

1. Who else is interested?

2. Who can teach it?

3. When is a good time?

any takers or comments?

hey fellas, i do it but rarely get time. unfortunatly im too preoccupied usually fishing. let me know how you go if you get one happening i would more than likly give some pointers but its hard unless you sort of have a rod lathe for everyone, unless you are willing to spend an hour or so each on the rod all doing different parts.

Hi
I will show you what to do to get you going.
My shop (rod building supplies) is in Townsville and I have a few names already that want instruction on rod building. I was toying with the idea of Thursday night and Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
If you want you can call me on 0448417660 anytime or email me simon@ozrods.com.au (simon@ozrods.com.au) and I will try and get something together. I have got the all the tools (lathes, reamers, glues, finish, thread ect) you need as well as somewhere air-conditioned to hold it so I would say it was a goer. I can probably take around 6 to 8 people at the most. Let me know when is a good time and we will go from there
Regards

Simon

I'm definitely interested, and most weekends for a while should be ok. Will try and fit in with what ever the majority decide.

Thanks,
Dave.

Well, I started this thread so I will make the necessary inquiries with OZRods and give a list of potential dates & costings if that is acceptable with the group.

Post your agreement or otherwise please.

cheers,
michael

Its a good idea mate and Im in. It would be good to know some more fisho's in the Townsville area. Im new to fishing in saltwater and would be good to get some advice from more experienced anglers.

I spoke to OzRods today and Simon is going to give me some weekend dates to post on AusFish that will hopefully suit most....................I'll put them up when I get them but they should be in about a couple of weeks or more to give everyone to arrange their schedules..............

For those that are interested it looks like the Rod Building classes will start on Sunday 12th of October
The times aren't finalised but I was thinking from 3.00 to 5.00 or 6.00pm.
I will contact everyone and talk to them about it.
If anyone cant make that or you think another time would be better please let me know? ( simon@ozrods.com.au (simon@ozrods.com.au) or 0448417660 )
Thanks regards
