Hi guys i have just bought a daiwa alphas 103 R series reel for chasing jacks and am wondering which way to go with a rod ,what sort of rod would you suggest for this reel my budget is $150-200 i will be running 20lb tuf line xp and 40 lb leader . I will be fishing out of a canoe all ideas are much appreciated ...matt8-) 8-)

hey mate, i own a couple of alphas, one i got on a smith which is the best rod i have used, but unfortunatly goes well past your budget....the other rod i use and nearly 6 or so mates use is the g.loomis mossyback 663. it wil suit what you are doing perfectly, it may be fractionally dearer than 200 but well worth it, your local shop might do a deal with you or just but it from the states.

Thanks for that rhyce i will look at the mossy i am also looking at getting a GUSA blank sent from mudhole and have one made up ,i will go and have a look at a mossy in the next couple of days i feel i need something in the 6-8 kg range if someone has something decent for sale i would look at that option as well thanks ...matt
