Hey Guys, ;D

Went out a few weeks ago in the Nerang and caught a few whiting (about 8 Legals i think) using wriggler worms, but im wondering when do the whiting really kick off in the River and when should i be targetting them.

Most of the ones we caught on that day were only 25-27cm, which i think is normal for this time of year. Ive heard that the big ones come on in summer, is that right?

and now that the weather is getting warmer do you think its worth another go tomorrow?

Thanks, Dylan - GCC

Dylan the whiting are there all year round, just in different parts of river at different times of year.
We have just had a great winter season catching quality fish up your end of river the past 3 months.
Good to see you found yourself some wrigglers. cheers wayne.

Thanks Youngy,

We fished on the bank which is about 200m north of bartinon on the eastern side of the river, they have now made a 6 knot section just there so that should also make the fishin more enjoyable. Do you have any other spots up around that area? Ive heard plenty of people saying the fish for whiting right up till ross st bridge but ive never really noticed any good banks up that way. The wrigglers were good, we also picked up some bream on em too. I dont think there as good as the bloodworms though, the wrigglers are a bit hard to put on hooks, but definetly the 2nd best bait.

Cheers

Dylan in winter we fish all the way up to Carrarra, at the moment the fish have started to move towards the mouth of river to start spawning next month. cheers wayne.

Hey Johnny,

Those 6 knot areas are good when your fishing their, but they now add another 15mins on for us to get to broadwater.

Ive never caught a decent jack in the nerang but there are plenty of people on here who have.

Well thanks guys cya!
