Im looking to get a good baitcaster combo but i cant spend an arm and a leg, somewher between $200-$300, saw a flugger combo for $299, is flugger a good brand? Will be using it from my yak mostly an also off the bank using jackalls and spinnerbaits. Any help or ideas would be great.
Cheers
Geoff.
P.S. i live on the gold coast so anywhere close would be good.

Best thing to do would be getting hold of a Daiwa Advantage HSTA from the states off eBay. Looking around $160.00 to your door and these will be great for whatever you're choosing to target. Then you still have plenty of dollars left over to get a decent rod. For your price look at a Penn Pinpoint tournamnet rod ($100.00) they are great value for money.

I can recommend the Penn Pinpoint rod also. Found it at the local Km@rt.
I've got a Shimano Cruxis on mine. Combo price under $300 with 10kg braid.
I've been very happy with it. Casts well. Smooth drag.
I'm not a kayak fisherman though, so I can't suggest anything specific in that regard.
Good luck in your search.
Cheers,
Brian.

Nerang disposals had TCurve baitcast rods for $179 last week. Plenty left over to buy a reel.

mate you should go on mo tackle and buy a starlo stix pro baitcaster rod for around 100-120 they are disposing them and they usually sell for around 170-180. Very good blank, hastings blank? I am pretty sure. Anyway very good rod and as for reel get yourself a daiwa viento or tierra from ebay or basspro. The tierra is about 119 american and the viento is 199 american, but If you were to purchase a viento buy from Australia because it's the same price. And yes pfleugar is a good brand, they have really improved over the last few years. At the brisbane boat show I noticed the fella doing the barra tank was using fluegar rod and reels, the more high end models though.

Don't know your thoughts on round/high profile baitcasters but you can pick up a Calcutta 50/100/200 for under $200 at the moment, very tough reel with a minimum of bearings which won't hurt the pocket as much should you turn the yak over, might leave you a bit short for rod though depending on what your after.

Nothing wrong with the Plfueger setup. good gear for the price, which will certainly be good enough to tackle bass with.
Pflueger is Shakespeares higher quality gear. They're making some really nice rods at the moment. I've got older Pflueger baitcast rods and have put them through hell...they survived OK.
