Hey all

I quite like the idea of fitting double hooks to my Bream Vibes and Deep Divers (Decoy Hooks?)

For snag resistance and also ease of changing hooks, i hate changing fiddly little trebbles on the water.....

Does anyone know who in Brisbane stocks a good supply of these puppies?

Cheers

Mick.

I seriously went through the mode of doubles for several years for similar reasons as you. Have since gone back to trebles or swinging single hooks for two reasons. Doubles are easier to pull out of a fish's mouth because the all important split ring isnt there to give the double freedom to move esp when the fish gets into gill rattling or head shaking. Secondly I found that doubles regardless of thier coatings corroded between the parallell shanks, supposedly close enough a gap to support capilliary action and draw and hold moisture between the shanks. Often times a double would snap part way along the shank and close inspection would find a thin corrosion line immediately between the shanks.
Trebles being welded toegether do not have the moisture affinity that doubles do. Single hooks esp. assist hooks tend to hold a lot better in a fish's mouth as well and the hookup rate is very similar.

Try getting them from a Tackleworld outlet, they are keen to place orders and generally quick on getting them in. I always had to order mine in and would go though hundreds of about 4 sizes a year.

Thanks for that info mate.

I might put some on just the lures for tiger country and the ones i use a lot, i don't have a problem ditching the doubles each session when have caught a lot of fish on etc

What singles do you use and what lure types?

Currently I am giving the Gamakatsu Single Lure Hooks and they seem to be good.

Also been running G-Stingers as well without any problems:

Also been using LiveBaits and BigBaits and similar hooks from owner or mustad as well.

I use an assist on the front hook eye of a 4" deep diver and two singles off the tail usually both sitting on a split ring.

The Split rings are vital for movement to minimize the leverage a fish can gain to rip a hook from its mouth. Most of the reason why assist hooks are so bloody deadly.

If I am running a 3" deep diver i have an assist off the snap and two singles off the tail.
