The new tierra's are decent rods. They apparently had some issues with the quality of the cork on last years models but if its the new neo prene gripped ones you'll be right.
Also have a look at the starlo stix tournament pro mid spin. Sic guides, hastings blank, very nice rods and you can get them for around the same amount as the tierra's.

are the starlo-stix built on hastings blanks???
I own one and absolutely love it. Top shore-based rod as it casts like a bullet.

Check out Pflueger 2-7kg 7' President rod USA graphite blank, Fuji SIC guides,Fuji Reel Seat, cork grips these rods used to sell around the $200 mark but when Pure Fishing took over Pflueger in Australia they sold them out cheap and you can pick them up for about $99

I would suggest checking out the Starlo Stix Tournament Pro Max Spin as well. It is rated 4-7 kg. Fuji SIC's etc and I have been told they are a Hastings blank but not sure. Whatever they are they are nice to use

Thought so, but might be confusing it with something else:-/:P

I have a Tierra combo, the cork grip 6-14lb and 2500 reel. Good value and nice to use. I am sure any of the rods mentioned would be fine, I bought the rod to match the reel without putting too much thought into it but am happy with the results.

I'm looking for the same sort of rod, what would be the best place to buy one ? who has the best range , seems to be such a wide range to choose from

I got one from MO the other week when they had their special prices on.
I got the Mid spin and a Stradic 2500FI 8 and 10lb spools
Already had a Light spin and Stradic 1000FI 4 and 6lb spools
Very happy with both outfits although my raider finesse bream I feel liked casting lighter weights than the Starlo Pro light spin, however it feels heaps better loaded up than the raider.

I just picked up a Pflueger President at a good price. Beautiful rod. Haven't really hooked any thing to test it yet, only one fish, but it feels good and looks a million bucks (not that that matters I suppose.).
