soft plastic fishos!! i know this has been covered a bit but im still a bit vague on what is the BEST knot for braid to a flurocarbon leader, currently, i bimini my lines then use either a 5 turn surgeons knot or an albright knot. what knots do you use?? and would u use different line to leader knots for different fish??

cheers

i used to always use short bimini to albright. now i skip the bimini and just tie albright . reasons are i find it sronger, i waste less braid tying the bimini, faster to tie rig as one less knot, most important more stealth. if using heavier than 30lb leader i go to slim beauty with no double. either has let me down.

Currently using a Bimini to a Ted Donelans leader connection for all applications and liking it.

uni to uni easy to tie and it hasn't failed on me yet even when i catch trees. Everyone knows how hard trees fight normally you have to chase them with your boat and the drag up tight;D ;D

I no longer bother with doubles and simply albright (my variation) to the leader. I don't think I have had 3 of these connections fail me on a fish in the last 10 years.

Test your knots well before use though. Too many people rush a knot and do not pay good attention to how good the knot they have tied actually is.

Most times if I get broken up it is because the fish has rubbed me off either on its teeth/gills or the bottom. Lines breaking somewhere in the middle just does not happen if you use a sensible amount of drag for that line.

I used to have a large selection of knots that I used regularly (probably 20 different knots) now i use 5 knots in total, palomar, albright, lefties loop knot, half blood and another that I am yet to see anyone else (bar the mate that showed me it) use or describe. Of all those knots the un-named knot is the simplest to tie and the least failure prone (I have never been able to stuff one up).

i started using 2 blood knots tied together and pulled the knot off to easily so i went to an albright still the leader knot popped off and i had trouble csating long distances with it due to the line braking whilst going through the guides. I then went to the slim beauty it was alright not too many rigs lost and now i ma onto an improved albright, not 1 lure lost yet.

Improved Albright for most uses or a Slim Beauty if small guides and thick leader

Improved albright for me. I dont find a double necessary for any of my fishing.

Double uni, I use it in all my leader applications, never had a failure when I have tied it properly and not rushed it. I only use 5 knots the uni, bimini, snell and perfection loop, the 5th os the dropper loop for paternoter rigs.

Ted Donelan's as well. Only one tag end and very, very slim.
