Don't know the drag for the reel but looked at the new emblem surf rod today. Fantastic. Have already asked Santa if he (she) could fit it in this year's budget.....

I run 15kg braid for medium popping and spinning on mine, so therefore set the drag at about 3.5kg in open waters and 5kg in shallow reefy areas where a fish needs pulling up fast, the drag can be tightened up a bit more if necessary. I recon the reel could handle 8kg.

Recommended line rating for this reel is 30Lb, 10lb of drag.

Any more I would think would burn it out if loaded up consistantly.

Angler if you PM me in two weeks time I will be able to dig out my Emblem Pro and tell you. At the moment it is packed for moving, but by then I will be there. Naturally, the first thing to be unpacked is fishing stuff!!!!

I see Daiwa has a new Sealine Black Bite N' Run that sounds great-33lb max drag apparently.Might not be what you're after??

Anglers seeking maximum durability and performance, plus the advantages of Daiwa’s Bite N’ Run clutch system, will find what they’re looking for in the Daiwa Sealine Black spinning reels. Armed with a rugged aluminum frame, four corrosion resistant CRBB bearings, Daiwa's Digigear technology and a powerful multi-disc drag, these reels are well equipped for battle.

Bite N’ Run is Daiwa's live bait feeding system. Bite N’ Run allows a predator to take off with live or cut bait with the bail closed, feeling little or no resistance. When you’re ready to set the hook, a simple turn of the rear handle and the main drag kicks in instantly.

The Daiwa Sealine Black Bite & Run Spinning Reels models include the following features:

Four CRBB corrosion-resistant ball bearings, plus roller bearing
Automatic Bite N’ Run clutch
Digigear digital gear design
Silent oscillation (with worm gear levelwind)
High-strength HardBodyz aluminum frame
Powerful, consistent multi-disc drag
Infinite anti-reverse
Air Bail®, strong yet extremely light
Twist Buster® line twist reduction
Convenient, rear-mounted preset adjustment
Aluminum spool with long-cast design
Machined handle arm and comfort grip knob
