Hiya all,

I hope this is the right forum ..

Is anyone able to advise if it is possible to communicate via UHF duplex channels from a user at Fraser Island to a user in Brisbane ?

If it is possible, what channel should be used ? I have been using a GME Electrophone TX3200 for several years as convoy communication, however it would be good to use it in the above scenario.

Maybe its not possible - I do not know - any advices much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Do a search for the closest repeater station in that area. Im pretty sure when you get past eurong you cant radio out (just your normal 5k distance) but telstra works if you climb up on the cliffs/dunes and its not too windy. :)

Ps. im talking about the ocean side, maybe it works on the inside.

Yes as Ben Dover said I think Telstra must have upgraded thier service on Fraser, I did notice a nice big tower at Eurong last week that I had not seen before, we stayed at happy valley and my mates standard Telstra mobile worked fine from the unit.
Of course my Optus one wouldn't go.

Your best chance would be line of sight from channel 1 repeter located on tip of Morten Is, but this would be a very long shot indeed. All other land based repeters are impeeded by hills trees and buildings.
