Hey fellas, I know a bunch of us travel to all sorts of places and catch a few fish, places like Fraser etc.

While we are there fish obviously need to be cleaned and processed.

Currently I have an old wooden ironing board that desperately needs to be retired and a new improved version introduced, hence the question :)

What does everyone else else use when they travel, I know we all have some flash fillet stations at home but surely there are some ingenious and portable fillet tables about.

Before I start building my new one lets see what others have to say and show based on their experiences.

We used a portable baby bath. Removed the side cushions an replaced them with chopping boards so you have a chopping board eather side of the bath where you can rinse the fish.

Also made a bait board, more like a shallow box and fixed it to the bull bar so if we wanted to move spots we could just leave it on the bull bar with all the bait in it.

We take our Bunning folding table and use and if your camping we take our plastic chairs and put under each leg to give us elbow height filleting
Otherwise sitting a chair at the table makes for no bending over in the back and is really relaxing with a couple drinks

I use one of the folding adjustable tresle tables you get from hardwares. They are stable, easy to clean and can be used to help loadthe roofrack etc

I made a ally bait board and bought a sheet of butchers cutting board to put on,i had half a sheet left so i made up a ally frame and attached it to the top and made removable legs with lugs welded on to hit or push into the ground if you are on an uneven surface.Nice and light ,i mainly made it for the October 1770 trip but i use it at home also. While i was at it i made a motor bracket for my suzy.

Hey Horse, What a great idea, and can use it around home too. Have to see what sizes the hardware has. Cheers

I thought about using a collapsable ironing board but I guess it would rust pretty bad

I just use the flat top of my 85litre esky. If you are just cutting off the fillets then your knife never touches the surface. Only one item to clean as the esky always gets dirty anyway.

Ironing board for me too, a 300mm wide piece of pine replaced the chipboard top without a hassle and all up cost less than 20 bucks. A couple of hooks on the ends to hang scrap bucket and a fillet bucket and bobs your uncle. Best investment ever.
