Had a quick session over at Peel, a little windy but not to bad.
Had to be a quick session as the wife has booked me in to go see the Home Building and Renovation Expo:-/
Fished my usual drift the sounder was pretty blank, not many tailor therefore the Pink Scavengers were a little hard to hunt down.
Found some Tailor in some deeper water than normal ( 8m ) and pulled a few Rats off the back of the school.
Marked the location, did a big wide circle of the school and drifterd back over them.
Another couple of Rats then a decent fish decided to play, it went 50 odd cm. Fell to a 4" Zoom Superfluke in Baby Bass, 1/8th 12 lbs Nitlon Leader
Home for Bacon and Eggs, boat washed by 9am

On a side note, thanks Slyman for enlightening me about the Palomar Knot tried it out with good success. The action of the plastic was not harmed and I didnt loose 1 jig;)

Got to be happy with that leighton, couple of nice fish and home for breakfast!

Love the palomar knot, simple and quick to tie, holds well and doesnt impede the action.

To answer your question from poodroos post, yes a larger leader is going to be a problem doubled through the eye, but only in smaller jighead sizes, if you tried to use say 20lb or more on maybe a 3/0 hook then its not so great. But i guess if you were using larger leaders, you'd be targetting larger fish so you'd be using a larger hook size anyway?

Nice fish mate.

How do you rate the GLX over your S4?

tough call. Been fishing with the Loomis for 2 years or so and its hard to give up the habbit of using it.
I prefer the reel seat and handle of the Bear, IMO it also has a softer action maybe thats to do with the noise of the recoil guides on the GLX.
Both rods have serious pulling power.
I do tend to use them both side by side, one with a darker plastic and the other with a bright plastic to see what one is working on that day

Nice one Leighton. The Zoom Baby Bass seem to be a good consistant performer. How was the wind down at Peel early?

Cheers
Brad

wasnt to bad going to Peel, blowing a S/W so that was perfect for my drift.
Bumpy and slow getting home
