Howdy folks.

Been doing a fair bit of bream fishing lately but have had a few trips with some mates that have stood out of late.

Had a few sessions out on the bay chasing bream in the reefy shallows with me mate Camo and have managed a few bream, been monstered by tailor that have been steeling my top waters and also managed to tussle with some mack tuna on the bream gear aswell.

Camo landed a nice tuna of about 5kg on 6lb line which took him about 10mins to land. I hooked one of the same size on my Gekkabijin with 3lb line which was fun for 2 secs untill nearly all my braid was gone. Thought the better of it and popped him off as i like my braid more than mack tuna.

Also took a mate Broughton out for a flattie flick as he had never done too well on the plastics. On the way to the ramp his wanting to get some pillies to have a bait fish but had to pull him up and tell him No bait on the boat! Gets in the boat and i handed him a rod with 6lb line and he starts carrying on about how the lines too thin and it will snap when he hooks a fish::)

After an hour of casting and 2 50-60cm fish dropped beside the boat Broughton starts geting shirty. "Is this plastic any good? Why couldnt i bring any bait? these things dont work! and so on and so on........ Next thing he says hes snagged. How funny his face was when the snag started screaming line off the reel and violently reffing the rod from side to side.

After a little coaching and letting him know not to touch the drag about 15 times he gets the big girl up beside the boat. He was stoked to say the least as he had a new pb flattie and on a placky to boot. A few quick pics and broughty is swimming the big girl to her freedom.

Poor Broughty managed to fall in the drink back at the ramp and stuffed his phone, but still couldnt wipe the smile off his face.

Also had big Rich grace me with his presence for a weekend of bream fishin in the 3rd mini bucks . The big fella forgot he was fishing for bream and not barra at first and came up with a few sets of jaws the first few bites. He got back on his game pretty quick boating 3 fish before me and felt the need to rub it in.

Rich managed to pull a 32cm f/l bream pretty early and set the challenge for me to better it. Took me about 2hrs but pipped him with a 35cm fish And left us with a good bag for the day.

On the 2nd day we started off pretty slow with no fish in the well before 9.30 which was totally different to the day before with 30 fish been caught in the first hour. It took big Richie to turn things around with a New pb of 37cm f/l bream. It took the rest of the session to fill the bag with a couple of upgrades.

Richie being all stoked with his new pb "Your not gunna beat me today bro!"It came down to the last cast before we had to head back to the weigh in and i told him id beat him with this cast and win the comp for us. I cast out over a sunken reef and worked the bananna prawn halfway back to the boat and got slammed. Line screamin off the reel and after a short fight Rich does what Rich does best and nets a nice 37 1/2cm fish for me. Pipped at the post big Rich.

Had a great weekend catchin up with the big unit, caught plenty of fish, had heaps of laughs and managed to win a couple of hungy each to top it off. Cant wait to get up to Darwin to show him how its done up there aswell:P

When you have fun, the fish will come.

Ejoy the pics

Hey Whytey,

Big congrats to you and Rich on your win at the 3rd Minibucks, top effort. Are you fishing the ABT Super Series?

How big did your mates flattie go, looks like a stonker? Bet he never complains about not having any stinky bait again. Are you and your brothers fishing the Flathead Classic again this year? Marty and I will be back again.

Cheers

John

Whytey,

Nothing beats getting out on the water, with great company and a few fish to boot. Fishing is all about having fun, sledging included ;D .
Thanks for your report.

Well done on the comp win, thats awesome.

Beating rich on the last cast, and calling it as well? Thats even better than winning the comp, ha ha. Theres something really spooky about that. didnt you guys call and land 2 jacks last year on last casts? Deja Vu.
We should put you on The One as our new psychic fish detector.

cheers

Cheers boys.

JT. Yeah mate ill be having a crack at the super series. We wil be back at the flattie classic again also. Always look forward to it, but geta bit sick of my bros after being confined in a boat for 3 days straight together.

Gecko. Its funny how crazy things like that seem to always happen when me and Rich fish together. I think cause we always take the piss out of each other and have a good laugh the fish must feel the good vibes coming out of the boat. Hopefully my Darwin trip later this year with the big fella will be the goods. Im learning heaps of new strategical bombs to put him off his game come October.

Nabs. Your a smartass! Ill Blame my apprentice for making me sick and putting me off my game down the Tweed. Its hard to catch fish with your head over the side all day.

Nug. Ive got a few lures lying around still. Pm me with the sort of thing your after.

Joel. You dont catch fish unless your having fun is one of my fav sayings. No use fishing if your not having fun!

Cheers Whytey

HA HA! Great report Nick. Good to see ya havn't lost any of ya charm mate. Certainly was great to catcj up with you for the Minibucks. I didn't know if I still had anything left for the bream mate after tossing 40lb and having to change up to 4lb.
Nevertheless, we came through with the win. Just be sure to get your game face on and confirm those flight times for me so I can give you a lesson up here.
Things are just starting to happen now with slight rises in humidity up here. The boat should be out in a week and I'm off to Bearsand Island for a week Monday. Looking forward to giving the reefies a touch up while I'm up there. ;)
Take it ezy mate.
