Well, what can I say, had to wait all day Sunday to get on the water. Bugger this working to go fishing theory.

Arranged a trip with Wade (horseboy) and Scott (Scott_Nthqld) in my new Boat.
Met up at the Coastguard Ramp at 6:30pm, just as everyone else was coming home. Loaded their gear and put the boat in the water, headed for Cape Cleveland as none of us had fished that area. Made good time getting out there in low swell and light winds.

Once we arrived we decided to do a drift near to the Cape to see if anything was hanging around. Saw a few fish chasing big Garfish in closer to the Cape, but aside from that, there were no takers.

Moved out further to a mark that I had been give (I think day fishing would be better on it), again drift around it and still no takers, a couple of little pickers, but that was about all.

Moved over to Salamander Reef, as there were a couple of boats anchored up there. Again baits hit the bottom, no big stuff, just pickers moving your bait into the reef and giving us grief. Wade did manage to bring up one very angre Moray Eel, snip the line and he went back down with some interesting jewellery to show his mates. Stayed at Sally for a while but nothing much happened.

Left Sally and headed for Maggie Island, we ended up fishing in the vicinity of Picnic bay. A stripey and a Honeycombe Cod was all that came over the side of the boat. We stayed there until just after midnight, from there we headed home to the Ramp. Gave the helm to Scott for the run back, as he was commenting on the qualities of the boat all night. Smooth seas and got Scott to trimm her up and we pushed up to 36kts on the way back. She was humming!!!

So, Thanks Wade and Scott for an enjoyable night on the water, although we didn't get a feed, the banter, conditions and company made it a relaxing time.
Welcome back aboard anytime guys. Next time I promise we will fish the day hours and the results will be vastly different.

All these trips are helping run this new motor in....

At least a bloke has a chance to have a beer and a ciggy without interruption on nights like that mate. Better luck next time.

Scott actually did have time for a couple of durries and a can or two without interruption..

yeah, things could've been better fishwise, but still a great night out, could've had my boat out there all night it was that good.

Thanks again Brett, all I can think of now is where I'm gonna get 50grand from to get my own. Handling was great (love that non feedback steering), stability was something I've never experienced, and with the 135 on the back she really hummed along nicely, good holeshot backed up with a decent Top end....love it, really made me envious. And lets not forget about the crisp, smooth ride, (even the drive home felt lumpy in the car) even though the wind was down, there was still a little slop around as the wind changed direction which would've seen me thrown out of my boat at the speeds we were doing.

It was an absolute pleasure to head out with you Brett, Thanks again. Just don't leave it to long before you offer the next trip, I'm getting withdrawals already!

And let's not forget about the wide gunnels, perfect size for sitting on while waiting for the big one to jump on the hook (and we did plenty of that). And the full weld, none of that seam welding crap telwater carry on with. Definately a very solid, stable, smooth and great value ride, the only thing i would change would be the ownership details;) .

Sorry dude, she's all mine, not even the bank can touch her.

Thanks for the comments, I couldn't be happier with her, everything you said is true. Would like to look at what fuel usage I got last night. Will have to wait until I top it off later in the week. Will let you know what it was..

Easy to clean also

Won't be long before the next trip, this Saturday, but the missus has already reserved the day.

That boat has really got me thinking now! under 50k for an awesome reef boat for the family. It is the a quality package and solid to boot. Not catching a feed doesnt matter when you travel in style and that motor well quieter than i thought could be possible. Anyway Brett thanks for a nice night and for alowing me to be on its second run. As scott said ever chasing a crew i am ready to go.

I was out in Cleveland bay weed beds from about 5pm - 9pm last night with the wifey and caught nothing much except for about 100 tealeaf Trevally.
Nearly all went back except a few of the fatter ones, have to eat, although some may laugh. :-)

We probably went past you at about 7pm heading around the Cape, remember seeing a boat there, I think we past a couple hundred metres away from you. You did better than us at least. Good luck on your next trip

BWAH HA HA HA HA!!! Scotty and his free burley! It was dark Ron, so he very well could have! ;D The bigger question is, on such a steady boat, did Scotty still fall over?

Sounds like the new boat is ready for some serious reef fishing..
Plenty of willing deckies too by the sound of it.

Ronnien - Nup she was even steady enough that Scott didn't

Fall Over
Stumble or
Burley Up (could've helped the cause though)

Definitely some style and comfort in this rig, even when it was lumpy she still peformed well above expectation.. Yes, the Reef will get a hammering from this boat, when the cosmic alignment of weather, fuel cost and deckies all come together, she will be seen, not heard!!!
Going to see signwriter shortly to put the name on her "Hard Livin"

nope, no free burley, there wasn't any swell to make me feel crook. And stumbling will be a thing of the past, when i figure out how to either steal the boat, or get my own, made the stability of mine comparable to a bloody canoe!

You'd have to get past the elaborate alarm system around the boat, made of teeth, bone, hair and a healthy dose of territorial dominance

And it has a lawnmower!!!!

One of her many talents. Lets you in and cuts you down to size REAL QUICK...

Although she still has a habit of leaving the bones everywhere, most untidy!!!!
