G'day,
Wondering if i could get a fuel conversion/efficiency report.
Last trip did 68nm using 150lt. 150 Yam saltwater series.
Cheers Scott.

Scotty - I make that to be 0.84l per km or 0.45Nm per litre. Not too bad for a big 150 carbie.
My DF150 Zuke consistently avg just over 1Nm/litre in offshore runs.

Scott,
Works out at 1.19 litres per km. As a matter of interest I get 0.75 to 0.8 from my 200hp Suzuki 4 stroke, pushing a 6.6m Fisher.
Regards,
Dave.
PS, I found this calculator for converting nautical miles to km

Thats about 1.2 klm per litre. your boat is bigger than mine, but I get the same fuel usage on a 130 hp saltwater series.
Probably not doing to bad considering the bigger engine

Uhm, maybe the bundy had me a little confused last night..... ::) yes, you are right Scott.
heres a calculator I've thrown together so I can avoid bundy induced errors in the future. Unfortunately I can't upload excel, so have copied to word.

Haha ..nice work Dave...
man, it had me questioning my own sanity when you and the other 2 guys came up with same(wrong) answer ::).
In the end I did, indeed, put the error down to excessive consumption of one of Queenslands finest http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/../yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/grin.gif.
So are going to make us drool ,once again, this weekend with some pretty pics of copious amounts of red fish??http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/../yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/smiley.gif

Last Sunday I did a total of 39nm running from Ballina up to Lennox point and back fishing solo @ 20kt avg. And doing roughly the same trip with 4 adults on board @15-18kts looking for/watching whales.
Refueled on the way home, 15.2L to fill up.
Thats roughly 2.5nm/L or 4.6km/L.
Etec40 on 4.2m Stessco Catcher.
Pretty happy with that fuel bill for a day on the water.

recently acquired an old HH560 & 2005 YAM 2st 130hp
initial cruise testing suggests 30-35 litres/hr @ 30-40 kph @ 4000-4500rpm
averaging 1.0-1.3 km/litre
hope that helps

My 25 longboat with 100hp yam 4st gets 2.38 km/ltr doing 24-25 knots 4500 revs
310 km = 167.4 nm for 130 ltr = 1.29 nm/1ltr,= 18.6 ltr/hr, 4 guys and 100kg ice plus gear in average 1.2 m seas
not as good consumption as a 4.5m tinny but better than anything in the same class

My 225 saltwater 2 on a 6.8m plate boat used to average between 700 & 800 metres per litre same boat with a brand new 225 Suzi 4 stroke I get around 1.3 klm - the litre. I am hoping it will loosen up a bit and average about 1.4 if you drive it right.
What a difference it makes when you do at least 150klm per trip.:D

Today I used 55litres for 120km's with a 150 Suzuki almost 2.2km to the litre sitting on 25 knots and trolling at 5.5knots. The 115 Suzuki on the same hull never got much better then 1.6 for the same trip.

The boat probably weighs about 1500kg's on the trailer, so around 1300kgs in the water with me in it. About 55 of the km's were trolling.

Hey guys,
Got a Haines 635L with 200 Merc 98 model - 2 tonne on trailer
Cruising at 4200rpm, with 4 blokes, at 32 mph on flat conditions travelling 70nm used 90L (that includes idling around to anchor up etc).
So my calc is that is 0.78nm/L. Is that ok?

It's interesting to see the different fuel economies of the various boats. My little 4.1m Polycraft with 40 2 st Yam consistently used 8 - 8.5 litres for a day on Morrisseys Creek. Normally that would be a run from the ramp to the mouth area and a bit of running around. I consistently forgot to measure the distance on the GPS, but I think it would be about 6k's from the ramp to the mouth. Maybe 15 k's for the day, filled to the same point in the tank each time before and after the trip.
If someone can confirm the distance ramp to mouth for me I'll have an idea about fuel economy.
From what I've been reading above, I should get a bigger boat with about a 150 4 stroke on it, purely for the fuel economy........wonder how that argument will wash? Hehe.
