Please find below the "Terms of Reference " that will be discussed at a meeting of the Working Group set up by the DPI & F on the 4th and 5th August and also at the end of September.

The stakeholders in this group are made up of all interested parties and we have the opportunity of having 3 recreational members on board. One of those members is Bill Corten. Bill is willing to take emails from Ausfish members in relation to the terms of reference and also, any Creative Ideas, Suggestions and Opinions. These will be taken into account and if applicable, be brought up at the meetings. His email address is :-

reel_affair@yahoo.com

We are have another Ausfish member on the working group and a member of Sunfish.

I cannot stress enough, the importance of having a say in this matter. This round of talks / meetings is crucial. There will be public meetings as part of the consultation process and these dates and places will be made available as soon as we know.

As stated, you can email Bill or simply post a reply here and it will be taken into account.

Ausfish is a huge resource of experience and knowledge in the recreational fishing arena, particularly in SEQ and for this reason our members must contribute to this process.

Thanks in advance....

Phill

Thanks Phil I wondered when this would end up on here

This is a fairly serious issue and there are a number of interested parties not rec fishos that want to seriously limit our catch. I would urge all ausfish members to have a say in this matter and I think it would be appropiate to direct correspondance to the relevant decision makers. Apathy will cause us to loose our fishing areas as the other parties already have a united front and are lobbying

I am willing to help but am not sure what to do can you provide us with an action plan

Far side,

The working group meets tomorrow and Tuesday and no doubt will come up with some proposals for discussion at the public forums to be held at selected venues (at night) over the next 6 weeks.

I will post on Ausfish the dates and times of the public forums as soon as they are announced.

The working Group has representatives from recreational and commercial fishing as well as the charter fishing industry and tackle stores.

The commercial fishos may lobby for a reduction in bag limits for recreational fisho but I doubt whether this is in the best Interests of the other parties represented on the working group.

All will be revealed after Tuesday.

Cheers
Barry

I went to a meeting at cleveland hotel at night where the government was supposed to send a representative to answer questions in reguards to fishing green areas total fishing ban areas bag limits etc.
I would have expected a government member from the local area to attend , but no a bloke from noosa was phoned an hour or so before the meeting was due to start and he, to his credit, tore down here. Unfortunately he had absolutely no knowledge of moreton bay or fishing issues.
I thought all the no go areas of the bay were cut and dried and October was the death nell ??? is there still hope ??? if so count me in. I'll talk to my nephew a pro about it and see if I can get some sence of it all, he is the crabbing rep for the bay I think.
