Purchased 2 G Loomis rods from U.S eBayer seller 'ReelsSeller' last year. Great service and great prices!
BG
The best by far is American Legacy Fishing company www.gloomis.us (http://www.gloomis.us)

PS .... Buy 1-5 rods & pay the same ($70approx) freight

Hey Nagg,
Just had a look at that site and they have free world wide shipping if you purcase 2 or more GLX casting/spinning rods in the month of July!
Makes those prices look even more tempting!!!

I agree with Nagg. I have used American Legacy and they were excellent, rod arrived in 4 days and was over a $100 cheaper than local and that was only buying one rod with the single shipping fee. Would be heaps cheaper again if you bought more than one rod for the single shipping fee.

Can you still access the Expediter replacement service if you buy them from overseas?

You have to send back to the US for the Expediter.
The Australian distributors will not expedite on non Australian purchased rods. Have apparently introduced a tracking system for all Australian rods.

Yes, how?
The rods dont have serial numbers....so theyve no idea where they came from.
Has anybody imported a 1 pc loomis? Is the rod tube strong enough?

G'day,
Yes I had a 1 piece imported, a bcr 803 loomis m/back, April this year, it arrived in one week and the freight was around 40 us.It was great value and I would happily do again, I purchased through ebay on-line shop but emailed and orgainsed everything prior.
The shipping company was UPS expediated. Canme with tracking number etc, total weight was around 6lb.
I would definately go that way again,
But I recommend investigating everything before you commit.

JustQ,
I checked out the situation with the expedite warranty with my local loomis dealer and he says he has done it for OS purchased rods before and will do it again. He knows the situation price wise and will do the right thing by good customers who still spend plenty on tackle regularly( like me ). Cheers !!!

I wouldnt be writing comments like that on the net for everybody to see because if the guys at EJ Todd found out about this i dont think your local tackle store would be a loomis dealer anymore.
As far as i know the expiditer warranty would have to be claimed from the country of origin.

Hi Andrew
No dramas with packaging ......... I get my loomis rods from American Legacy! I've brought in a couple of 7ft + rods
How strong are the tubes ?
With some embarrassment :-[ ....... they can withstand 100kgs !

I have purchased 4 loomis rods from the USA i got them from ebay ( arkrodandreel ) all one piece 3 baitcasters and 1 spin .
the dearest one was $ 250.00us and combined shipping was $100.00us they were well packaged and arrived within a week.
The way i look at it i got 1.5 rods for free .
I also have purchased daiwa black sheep and shimano calcutta dc`s and tiagra`s from the states for half the price i would have paid here in oz.
Whats going to happen to the aussie tackle industry when everyone starts importing thier gear from o/seas ?????
Dont get me wrong i use my local tackle store for line , lures, bait etc but as far as rods and reels go while i am saving $100s of dollars i am not buying them locally .

My G Loomis Drop Shot GLX arrived yesterday, ordered it last Thursday night from Tackle Warehouse in the States. Purchase price US$370 plus postage of $45. Would have been the same postage if 2-3 rods were purchased. It was wrapped in bubble wrap and packaged in a heavy duty cardboard tubing (bomb proof). Why would you consider buying locally at those prices??

Why indeed!
I'm sure we all support the local guys ...... for bait , lures , terminal tackle etc
But for these big ticket items ........ with the support that you get from the international sellers these days ....... with great communication , packaging & reasonable shipping costs. Its just too hard to ignore:)

Bugger them Nick..!
You know part of the problem lies with the wholesalers.
At work we deal with 'Freetime' which are the dealers for Rapala lures and alot of other gear.We have just been informed that ALL the rapala lures (x-raps) etc are about to jump considerably in price......The wholesalers never seem to wear any of the costs and just lob it over to the retailers.
Now who is going to pay $20-$25 for an x-rap when you can buy them online for much cheaper...?????.....We even mentioned this to 'Freetime' and they just dont seem interested.!
People believe that retailers are expensive BUT the problem lies with the wholesalers....They are making the big profit.

Yeah, local tackle store owners and wholesalers will really need to watch out. If I can save nearly $250 on a rod and reel combo by purchasing on line, it's really a no-brainer.
Equally however, I do appreciate the importance of having a local tackle store where you can get advice and gear conveniently, but the future of such stores is definitely at risk with the likes of BCF and on-line traders.

G'Day Black Pig,
I'm also looking at buying a loomis rod and have considered buying from the US.
I was wondering how you went.
Did you end up purchasing from the US and if so who did you buy through. Was the service good without any problems?
I haven't purchased from overseas before and am abit nervous to be forking out hundreds of dollars for an overseas purchase.
I am looking for a good bass rod. What did you end up with??
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hey Pistol, we know it is not the retailers out there ripping us off, just too many fingers in the pie as far as I can work out.
Like so many others I get most of my gear from overseas, rods included, the price differences are just too great to ignore.
Never had a drama except for once I got ripped off on ebay by a dude in Sydney. Funny though I have bought frm Malaysia, Hong, Kong, China and Russia even, and the US a lot, then some pr*ck in Sydney dupes me.
That's one guy I'd really like to meet.

Cant go wrong ........ Initial charge for shipping is high @ US$70 ...... but get some mates together & bring in 5 rods for the same US$70 ........ or 2 GLX rods & shipping is free!
Regardless you will pay 40-50% less than the local price
Shipping is UPS in 5 days
This is one of only a few overseas sellers that I would recommend without hesitation
