hi all,
heading out to westpoint at 6 am today over calm seas, only took about 15mins from pallerenda. once there started to troll the new wolfie (sp) these things get down very deep & swims like the real thing, done this for about 1 hour with no result. so we anchored up over the mark & the sounder showed alot of bait hanging over it with a few good fish, thinking that we were going to be in for a show turned out pretty slow at first. while waiting for the pillies to take off in screaming runs i started jigging some metal around the bottom only to loose 9 slices ($5 each) to doggies, then my pillie was taken a good run followed & a 71 cm doggie hit the deck. things went a bit quit after that, we got a dozen under size ones as well. after a move & baits back out i started to jig again & lost some more metal to fish, than 1 stuck he came in at 52 cm. just after that scott & his pop turned up had a fish for awhile got 1 under sized & after awhile moved on, we stayed for about another hour after scott left & scored another 3 doggies at 52cm each. things are starting to improve out in the bay (better than last week anyway), another mate was out there also he got 1 doggie & a mtr long cattie.

Yep, definitely a good effort, woud've been on the water in the new rig, but had to attend a Beach Comp at Alva. Everybody there was saying the same thing.
Hopefully this weather will pass over and might be able to wet a line. Seabreeze has sunday going through a change. Might be a night session on the cards, just have to wait and see!!

Yep,
Just happened be in North Ward on Saturday morning - when I saw the conditions, I was tempted to dump the tribe at the In-laws for the rest of the day but, that would have cost me dearly.
Day like that, who cares if the fishing's a bit slow but it seems Alchemy (bluewater) had the right idea, heading out Fri(?) night...
Good work Ron, I think I know your ute now - saw it last w/e. Sky blue 2wd, dual cab? Mine was the dark grey hilux.
Looks like things may shut down now until maybe Sunday but tides won't help.

Sounds like you had a much better day than me. I ended up with a 1kg tuskie and a 1.5kg GT (perfect eating size) after trying nearly all my spots. I was rudely interuppted by the GBRMPA on liver point when they drove straight through my berley trail and lines just to remind me that there are green and yellow zones nearby. They also nearly drove their bloody boat over the top of me, instead of coming in side on, they decided to come in bow first, coming inches off the starboard side of my boat, next time they'll be copping sinkers launched from the shanghai.

done alot of night trips on the reefs, but now i dont work for him(old boss) so i only go out at night catching big fingermark, big grunter & what ever else wants to jump on in the summer months.

thats it the old blue dualcab, seen a gray hilux down there kept a eye out but did not see a tinnie with mozza on the side.
scott
was watching them going from boat to boat handing out something yellow? thats when i decided to start trolling & they left me alone.

They didn't give me anything, maybe because I gave them a bit of a serve for running through my lines. After they left it shut everything down, just when we'd started to get the fish feeding. We tried that plane wreck, but still couldn't find it, and then came over to where you were.

Yep - Weather is shitty, working both Saturday and Sunday 12 hour shifts, so my window might be Sunday Night after 6:30pm. If the weather improves or the window is still open (according to Seabreeze), but I am doubtful that it will be the same in a couple of days time.
But, if it is, I might be after a couple of deckies to go for a fish, no expecting it to be a really late one, possibly home before midnight, just depends on the bite situation. Won't have to worry about cleaning the boat (will be doing that in daylight hours, just sharing fuel and bring your own bait to add to the pile....
Also bring your experience and ideas on night fishing, as I haven't done too much away from safe areas (marina and Ross etc). Fishing will probably be in the Cape, Magnetic Island area (saves on travelling time if it goes to shit real quick)
Anyone interested???

I'll be up for it Brett, I'll pm you mine number as well. Got a new mark off the cape the other day from the guys at the warehouse, they said its great for nearly everything (nannies, fingers, grunter, macks, emperor). It's about 10mile off the cape.
Seabreeze has the weather looking good on sunday night, here's hoping it stays that way.
