G'day Ausfishers,

Spent a very nice day on the water out of Nudgee Beach on Sunday, heading north to Redcliffe and Scarborough and working our way back fishing the reefy structure here and there. Don't usually head up that way, so it was interesting.

Enjoyed looking at all the bottom structure in the super clear water, but the fish weren't really on for most of the day, with a couple of tiny squire, a sole, and a grinner coming aboard, and being swiftly released.

Saw some very big bream in the water, but usually after they'd been spooked by the boat. Went down to 3m of 4lb fluorocarbon leader and the "old faithful" Gulp Shrimp and couldn't raise any interest

Stopped on the flats out from Nudgee using cut down Gulp worms (a top tip from Ausfish - thanks guys) and started catching a LOT of winter whiting, with the green toads a close second. Kept enough of the big ones (the whiting, that is) for the two of us for tea - all around the 20-25cm mark and let the rest go back and grow bigger for next time.

Can't beat fresh whiting.

No photos, but I guess you know what whiting look like.

Cheers all,

Mark
