Just a word of warning,I am lucky enough to live on the river at Maroochydore
and I have seen the police boat patrol the river on a regular basis,so if you are thinking of spending the day fishing up here make sure your boat has all the right safety gear on board.I have seen quite a few tickets been handed out ,make it a good days fishing not an expensive one.

The more police and fisheries prtrols the better, the only people that have anything to worry about are people that do the wrong thing.
It is like when you see a police car on the highway, everybody does the right thing for a while. cheers wayne.

I fish the river regularly . I recognise the police boat instantly. It's the only one doing six knots as it passes me.>:(

Agree 100% with Youngy. I like seeing the Patrol at Noosa, keeps the dickheads under a bit of control.(and we all know there's plenty of them about).
If you abide by the rules you've got nothing to worry about.

iv seen them out as well. i seen them at the mouth going over the bar over and over again, in, then out the back, in, then back out. i had no idear what they were doing, pratcing going over i gess. the funnie part was that 15 min befor they got there a guy on a prowler kayak got flipped over and lost all his stuff. i could see it all just floating way from him. i could see he was ok so i did not go in to help. i felt bad but gee it was funnie to watch, but a bit of a bummer for him as it looked like he had some nice rods that he did not tie down and lost the lot. is any one from here flip at the mouth of maroochy 2 weeks ago hehehe. im glad the cops are doing there job im maroochy there is to many d$cks on the water as it is.

Just double checking about the safety gear when fishing in Maroochy.Because its in protected waters you dont need flares or an epirb(or how ever you spell it)you just need the usual life jackets, torch, bailing bucket etc.Not 100% if your supposed to have a mirror and v-sheet?

Hey Mex, maybe you should look at the regs mate. I wouldn't be taking anyones word for it, I'd find out myself, then you know for sure.
Cheers.
Doesn't hurt to have more than the requirments.
You just never know!!

I may be one of the idiots, But on sunday i found a dolphin had taken the baited hook on the sharknets/drum line? off just south of old woman island,
After spending 10min trying too set him free, (had no chance, he was way tuffer then i am!)
i waved down the copper center console duck, Looked as if he was going too cross the bar into m-dore,
He was short as with me, Had a go at me for waving him down about a dolphin, "there is a 24hour hotline you can call for stuff like that",
so i told him i'd rang underwater world and just got message bank, and i'd tryed too radio m-bah coastguard, but my 27mg sucks,
So i still havent tasted dolphin!, aparently they are nice with a bit of lemon and coconut cream, ;)
