Hi all,
Last weekend i headed up to the Hawkesbury to hunt the freshies that are screwin in the salt at the moment. Hit the water before sunrise to target topwater bass activity, last week the suckers were herdin prawns on the surface and missed the better part of the morning due to a late start....not this week.
Got there pre dawn this week and no bass. Man my fingers half froze off for nothin. It was an awesome xperience to see the fog rise off the water for 2 hours though. Had a few half-hearted taps but nothing to encourage us.
Moved on for deeper saltier water and hooked a nice breambo immediately. This was a voodoo cause after that we put in a thousand casts for zilch. 1 lone bass came up about 12pm but was a tiddler.
Pushed into a creek at about 1pm. The tide was slack and just about to push in. We found the biggest, tightly packed school of fish on the sounder i have ever seen, turned my screen red and yellow. It ended up being Ep's and a few little bass mixed in.
For the next 2 hours my uncle and i landed over 50 EP's and half a dozen bass, it was a fish a cast. Some real bruisers amongst em too. When they start getting big the concave head starts to get real pronounced and they just look awesome.
I love EP's but the little suckers are more prickly than a rose bush. My hands got ripped to shreds while holding them for pics. Sweet revenge.
Another good day out on the natives. Slowly but slowly the EP is becoming my No.1 species. The Jewie is gonna be replaced from the mantle. http://www.sydneyangler.com.au/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
Pics to come tomorrow....sorry boys.
