Wasn't the best kinda day for Peel, but safe enough if you are keen.

The fish is some sort of wrasse but pic is a little dark to be more accurate.

Wrasse ??????
Looks more like a banded weaver (rock whiting), common in the bay especially along the western side of moreton.

As Webby says it is a Weever.

Hard to find an online source with photo, this one is close;

http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=7869

Ern Grant has them listed as;

Family: Mugiloididae (Parapercidae)

Bar-Faced Weever

Parapercis nebulosus

Also known as Grubfish or Rock Whiting or Sandperch, but Weever seems to be the "correct" common name.

Grows to 340mm and is said to be a useful panfish if you get one big enough.

Cheers
