View Full Version : Essential fit out items on 4.6 M Tin centre console?

I am writing a wish list for a quote on a 4.65M centre console tinny with wide side decks.

Boat is primarily for fishing/crabbing in Moreton bay.

I will be taking out my two pre-teen boys for fishing and maybe a bit of towing inflatables. (only in fresh water - I don't fancy the kids being livebait for bullsharks) The missus will come out occasionally too if we go on a picnic cruise or whatever.

I have put the following items on the wish list:

Full height, partial width splashwell (less space wasted than full width)
Folding Tee top (so that the rig will fit into garage)
Transom step & handrail
Transducer bracket
High split bowrails (for fitting spray dodgers)
Underfloor fuel tankI was thinking of seat bases for removable seats when not in fishing mode.

Would also like side pockets, but not sure what dimensions.

Boat comes with anchor shelf under bow section. Is an anchor well a better idea?

Any suggestions for other essential items to go in during manufacturing stage?

Experience with items that really work well, or other items that are just are just a pain in the neck?

Cheers, Ross

Umm I assume you already have LED nav lights, anchor light/running light, Bilge pump, radio and antenna etc already ordered or they come with the boat as standard?

Having a 445 centre console I would suggest the following:

Build a seat/ storage space infront of the console. Will hold heaps of gear and gives a spread of seats when fishing

Buy a large esky with a cushioned top that can be placed behind the console as a seat when fishing

If funds run, put a leaning post over the esky for comfort on the run and forget the pad on esky

ladder of transom step

forget the side pockets and place rod hangers under the side decks. gets rods not in use out of the way and protected

Build a glove box into the console for phones cameras etc

full height screen on the t top

radio box in the t top

bait board over the full height engine well

consider going full width with well or at least having a partial rear deck either side of well. Can provide storage space for battery etc, and the other side gives a mount for bait well

burley bucket on stern

NMEA 2000 network and suitable engine - able to get loads of engine function info without lots of gauges

split bow rail and a removeable ladder on the bow

storage net in canopy, life jackets etc in easy reach and out of the way

wide enough side decks to enable placement of angled rod holders

Extruded side decks by preference - much stronger, if not then fully welded decks

This should give you a few things to get going anyway.

Good luck with the project or maybe just buy mine.

I have been looking around for too flamin' long.....

I took a trip out to the Clark factory in Rocklea. The Abalone's seem to quite well put together and are priced very competitively.

I don't see a huge difference between the Clarks and Bluefins, having seen boats in all stages of production.

The head sales guru Daryl showed me and the missus around the factory and I liked what I saw. Most of the work is performed by people - not robots.

They also make their own trailers - Redco and Tinka brands I think they were.
They even have their own galvanising facility onsite.

Daryl was very accomodating with my questions and was willing to build it however I wanted.

That's the reason for the "wish list." It was his suggestion.

It depends on the final price for hull/trailer as to what power setup I will go for.

I may have to go second-hand for motor.

have you looked at the cost yet
I was looking at putting foward steering on my 3.6 as a center console
and after a lot of planing and thought I realized that it was probly better if a bought a new boat already made that way, also you get a bit more room

If you do it get quik connect steering cable and helm around $300

I havent seen 'Cup (stubbie) holders' yet

A cigarette lighter socket for the spottie.

Tie down hooks/ tube towing cleats on the transom

...

Hey Bowser, good idea re a good cushion seat on the esky, Cost me $80 for a really thick cushion to match my boat upholstery, sorry I didnt do it years ago.

What do you mean about "put a leaning post over the esky for comfort on the run and forget the pad on esky"?

Are you suggesting a fixed seat back on the esky? and which pad are you referring to?

thanks Steve
