Hi, I have a baitrunner and it's started this annoying clicking noise when retreiving. Doing it whether it's under load or not. It sounds all the world like my Penns when the bail arm hits the handle every few turns but it's not hitting the handle and can't seem to pinpoint it. I took the spool off and nothing amiss in there. Has anyone had this experience with the Baitrunners?

It could be your anti-reverse lever thingie, that has a spring attached to it. It will be sitting inside the body of the reel and on the mainshaft at the base of the spool housing.

Sometimes the spring becomes elongated and will not allow the little cog thing to disengage properly.

I will find the name for you

the number is RD 5455 and it is the anti reverse cam spring.

the RD 5449 is the anti reverse cam.

Hope this helps

I reckon I know what it is. It happened on my oldmans reel & I have seen it happen only on A & B type reels with the smaller spindle.

What is probably happening is that the bail arm trip mechanism on the rotor is just hitting the trip notch on the reel body. If you file a smidge off the trip notch the noise will go away.

its the lever that sets the bait runner.
when u wind in and the lever clicks back, it doesnt click back completely. just put bit pressure on lever and push it completely back.
my 3500 does same thing. the clicking noise is annoying
