Hit Toomulla beach at 2:30 yesterday arvo. Fast incoming tide so had to retreat a lot. Walked the sand banks for small whiting and small stipped perch. Found a good gutter but this water highway was not being used by the fish. Many crabs about.

Ended up catching small bream. 3 whiting (keepers) and a 68cm Flathead. Fish for lunch. Nice looking spot that looks very fishy. I would like to try 2 hours in the creek on the high and as the tide goes out hit the beach in front of the creek.

Sand flies got their piece of me as well

Thanks to Gilli for the info

Yeah, heaps of sind lies down at toomulla. If you want some god grunter, landbased, go down the the boat ramp in the creek, and there's a little path to a mud bank you can fish off, cast your line over to the little feeder creek on the opposite side and let the current take it across there. It has accounted for a few medium sized (40-50cm) grunter for me a few years ago. But you really need to sit in a vat of aeroguard down there as the sandflies and mozzies are thicker than custard. And watch out for the croc, last time I was there, there was a biggun around 14ft hanging around, but they might have relocated it since.

I did a bit of casting over a sand patch near the mouth of the creek. Sitting in those mangroves only lasted 10 minutes before they hit. Scared of the croc as well. I will try again sometime in June/July
