Looks to me like a baby grinner.
A better shot of the head would confirm it tho.

Painted grinner.. the black mark behind the head is the main diff between that and the yellow banded grinner.. these are the small ones that only grow to just over 350mm

As they mature they migrate north to the eastern side of Mud Island where they school together in plague proportions.

Shabs pulled up a Grinner at Mud on Saturday with 2 6/0 hooks in it, plus his 2/0. One in the mouth, one in the belly. Damn things are survivors.
What makes me giggle is that there's someone out there telling a "one that got away" story - "Man the hit I had on that Grinner was huge!!!"
"Mate, that was a rock you nearly caught...";D

Hi
We caught some once, cut them up and used them for bait, and all we could catch were more grinners on the grinner baits. :P

From the pain in the arse family of what do they actually do fish.
Could also be called a recycling fish, coz you catch them, then re-use them ;D
