Hi all - off to the Pin tonight; first time in many months. Hardly any moon and a high tide close to midnight. Trying to rustle up some Bream. In the past I have done well off the tip of Caruso Island but never at Kalinga Bank. The fishing reports at Nuggets etc say Kalinga is the way to go - I surveyed it a few months ago at low tide and fished the night run in tide lobbing bait and placcies near all the big tree roots that fish like to hide in...I was the only boat there and there was way to much fresh water from all the rains...caught plenty of catfish. So is Kalinga now a goer and are we talking right along the bank near structure or is there a good hole or spot further out....? Any help appreciated.
Cheers
PS. Are the choppers biting at night on the run in out near the main Channel marker near the bar? Years ago I used to do pretty well there particularly with a bit of a blow to rough up the water.

Give the corner of Short a go as well, I have always found it productive and of late there has been a few squire popping up as well.

tried Kalinga last thursday morning was there for about half hour, never lost a bait, and didn't see anyone else pull in any fish either.

I don't think the winter bream have started to move inside the river mouths yet. I had a shot at the Maroochy River mouth on the new moon last week and ended up with one flathead for about 6 hours fishing. Couldn't find a bream in the usual haunts in the river or the surf gutters just outside the mouth. They shouldn't be far away - maybe on the full moon next week?
