Ok. i have a Lowrance LMS 527 and love the unit to pieces....

However when i use the 50khz part of the transducer it slows scroll speed down to snails pace even with ping and scroll speed at 100%. will do this on single sonar window at 50khz / split sonar screen or split sonar - map screen.

has anyone had this issue or know of a little trick to help speed things up...

With the unit running at 200khz it runs perfectly. I bought this unit for the additional frequency, but bit of a waste if i can't get any use out of it.

Can you change ping speed on both frequencies at the same time?
Id check on mine but its only the single freq. Try downloading of lowrance emulator http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Emulators/ for your model onto your computer and trying it and see if it does the same or contacting lowrance may be your best option

if you go into sonar features you need to check the chart manual mode or uncheck it. I cant remember which, thatll solve your problem (i think)

Local_Guy,

this seems to be a bug, I have the same problem on an x107cdf, lms527 and the simulator, I have ignored it because the only time i have really used it in split mode was when I was stopped on something that took my interest then turned it on to see if I could get better definition from 50 when your drifting or idling around it doesnt make much difference. I just think the processor is not able to handle the amount data coming through from both frequencies at once.

Am happy to be proven wrong..

Dowload the simulator for your sounder, you can install it on your pc and you will get the same result.

done all of the above. i basically learnt my sounder bofore i owned it...

i'll try what pubgolf suggested to see if that helps....

i wanted to use both frequency's so i could see more area of the bottom incase i'm missing the "good ground". so to speak.

all ping and scroll speeds are at 100%.....

if it is a problem with the processor in the unit then thats a bit lean on lowrances behalf. surely they wouldn't allow this.... or am i just missing something....

i had the problem sunday afternoon. I was up at lake tinaroo towing the famly around on the biscuit and knee board, seeing that i am the only one in the family i dont get to be towed around behind the boat.

Anyway i bought up both frequencies and 50khz was carrying on not scrolling and just generally being a tool. I messed around in the sonar menu page and ticked the box mentioned in the above post and away she went.

I dont think its a glitch in the system, maybe just one of four hundred setings is wrong.

(probably a good thing to be safe in the boat because payback is a b$tc*h)

LG,

I had an LMS 337DF in my old boat and found that if I was travelling too fast the 50Khz would all but stop scrolling until it got a bottom lock and then worked fine. (Scroll speed back to normal rates). No idea why or whether it should do this but it always came back up once I got the bottom locked.

If that doesn't work, call Navico in Sydney and ask for Lance in the Tech Dept. He'll know what's wrong &/or why it does that for sure.
