:D During discussions yesterday about fishing and knots and lines etc, I was asked if I knew about a product recently on the market that can be used to join lines. The subject came up because the mate mentioned he had a mate who, because of diabetes, is unable to tie knots very well and subsequently is losing fish. He said he had heard of this product which he described as a sleeve into which you put the ends of the lines, and then pass a UV torch over the sleeve which then shrinks onto the lines forming a shrink wrapped and strong join. He said he has seen the torches for sale in a tackle shop and asked where were the sleeves but the staff just shrugged. He thinks the product is out of the UK. Has anyone heard of or seen this and if so, what is the proper name and where can it be purchased. He and I want to help out a disadvantaged fisherman. Thanks in advance.:)

thats a negative on that one.
has he looked at pre-riged leaders/traces.
just need to do one knot on the swivel. you could even use snap swivels so you can change the trace without too much drama.

teach him the Centauri knot which is easy to make easy to tie, you just make the loops huge. Two of those will do a good join.
