Mud Island 4.5.08

Gidday all,

Was up bright and early and decided to give MUD a go despite the recent reports.
Arrived at destination 5am and flicked plastics all day working around the whole island. Only managed one legal squire 40cm (1 undersize threw back) on the northern tip of mud and a cod at 60cm on the western side. Squire fell to a gulp 4" grub in pearl white. Cod fell victim to a gulp 6" sandworm in camo. Fish caught on the drift using dropshot rigs as well as jigheads.Will post pics hopefully 2moro. Although results weren't so good, it was great to be on the water.

Was my first ever squire caught on plastic ;D

The cod was also a first for me. To catch it on a camo worm (which was meant for a bream or flattie) was unreal.

nice one on the first squire and cod on plastics! Two fish is better then no fish! Sounds like our day at mud a few days ago, long day for 2 fish, but still much better staying home.

Thats a Nice:o cod for in the bay. Mine always seem to be unders. oh well...

Mate it seems the last few nights at least have been quiet all round. Spoke to a few boaties as they come in to the ramp at manly last night and tonight and most came home empty handed. At least you managed a feed mate. Well done

Congratulations on your first squire on placcies. I'm sure it's the first of many more to come. Nice size cod also.

I've found Mud very quiet lately. You've done well.

Im glad to know that it wasnt just me and that mud has been quiet all round.
I tried nearly all the gulps i had and was on the water for nearly 5 hrs. Happy to have come home with a feed.

Im sure i fluked the squire and the cod and i could probably use your experience around the bay. Although your last trip to mud didnt land you a keeper, im sure it was a rare occasion. Better luck next time
