Sandies are still around. Have been getting them over last few weeks.
About 20 odd per trip.
Just finished a feed of them on fresh bread.

Got 13 today from only 4 pots over few hrs.

Cheers

Thats a feed fit for a king. Any hints as to the area. We dropped 10 pots in the northern Bay and got 4

Well done trueblue. What did you get the winteries on? Were you drifting/anchored and what sort of depth?

On and near a sandbank not far from Bribie out in the bay- could see the mouth of the passage from where we were. Out of 8 pots, a couple had bugger all in them. Most crabs were bucks, only about 20% were undersized.

Well done trueblue. What did you get the winteries on? Were you drifting/anchored and what sort of depth?

The whiting were taking mostly squid strips, and worms. strangely, live worms didn't do so well. They did take the occasional prawn but not so often.

Would have been better with live yabbies, but couldn't pump any as it was highish in the making tide when we went out.

We only drifted over the edges of the sandbank from about 15 feet till a depth of about 8 feet over the bank and then etc, etc.

cheers

Well done on the great catch. You have inspired me to dust of the pots.
Happy chewing!

did you do an head count on both.

Mate was out that way last week with 60 tings and 18 sandies between 3 people.
