After being snapped off yesterday by God knows what monster of the deep, I am very jealous!

Keep tightening the drag, he didn't even slow down - the boat next to us had him hooked as well! 20Kg here, 25Kg there, we didn't even touch the bastard.

He also picked up my Mates bait, but spat his hooks very early in the fight, so he had 3 lines to contend with at first.

What did it fight like? I scored an 18 kg model last winter, and I didn't really think it put up much of a fight considering its size.

jewfish arnt much of a fighter once you turn there head u got them beat especially on the gear i use

Agree with that 100% - and the bigger they are the quicker they give up. If you're patient enough to let them go on the first big powerful run after hook-up they usually burn themselves out quite quickly and often come in belly-up. The smaller ones to about 6kg are much better fighters and will give you a decent fight on light gear

nah dont worry bout lettin them have a big run just get into em give em bout 10 meters than break there neck and skull drag em in who wants to give a fish of this calabure the chance to get away thats wat really tics me off watchin people hook quality fish on gear that is just no way heavy enough wat a waste of a fish
