Hi Guys
I just got a new boat and its got a GP32 GPS and I want to upgrade to chart plotter, the boat has a Furuno 620 sounder that I am happy with so I want a stand alone plotter, I am thinking a Lowrance 5200,7200 or Navman /Northstar 557, 567 as these brands seem to have the highest pixel counts for the price, money is tight so I will probably go the smaller size.
Has any body had much experience importing from the US the price is a lot cheaper but I am worried about warranty issues and buying over the net.

Mate i went through the same thing as you a while ago and i settled for a Navman 5507. Im very happy with it its very easy to use and well priced. You wont be dissapointed, i have a 620 as well and they rock ;)

The only problem you'll have from buying OS is your mentioned units don't come
with australian warranty !!! All though Garmin on the other hand do .....

I have a Northstar 557 that I brought in from the US and prior to buying it i checked with Northstar here and they said no problem with the warranty.

It's great unit, but if I was buying something now I would make sure it is NMEA2000 complient. All of the current generation instruments that are coming onto the market are or should be NMEA complient which alows you to network all your instruments together and share information/data.
