Hi,

I have a Lowrance X25 sounder on my boat, it came with it when I bought it 2nd hand and I believe was fitted to it when it was sold new in 1993. It was a popular entry level sounder for that era. It has a thru hull transducer and this is one of the reasons I have kept it.

I also have a Lowrance 334c iGPS/Sounder combo with a transom mounted transducer, plus an old Hummingbird NS10 GPS. The X25 is a handy back up, however the head unit display is starting to go and it is getting harder to read, and I would like to replace it if at all possible.

The simpliest solution would seem to me to be to find a compatible head unit that will work with the existing transducer and power plugs. However, so far I have not been able to find a reference source on head units and compatibility etc.

Wondering whether anyone might be able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in anticipation.

Dave

Hey there mate. I had the same problem with an old eagle sounder. My missus rang up Eagle (got the help number from their website) and they told her which new sounder would be compatible. turned out to be a Lowrance X52.

So my advice is look up a phone number on the Lowrance website and give em a call. They were very helpful and will sort you out. Lowrance, eagle, navman, mx marine, northstar and simrad are all owned by the same mob Navico, and chances are there will be somthing in that range that will work.

One number to try could be 1300 NAVICO. Not sure if thats for sales or service, but give it a try.

Had a look around the Lowrance website and their FAQ section. Found this link that answers my question;

http://primus.lowrance.com/support/resultDisplay.do?gotoLink=266&docType=1000&contextId=20%3A266.456&clusterName=ClusterPublic&lang=english&docset=%2FDocuments%2FAccessories&contentId=bb5cc09b-5b37-495d-89a2-f6cbfd5d9358&responseId=135ccbe2cfd4f608%3Adcb03b%3A1196ac78315 %3A-3209&groupId=4&answerGroup=19&score=375&page=http%3A%2F%2Fprimus.lowrance.com%2Ficr%2FAcce ssories%2FTransducer+Compatibility-Gray-192khz.htm&result=21&excerpt=1240A%2C+3400%2C+3500%2C+LMS-150%2C+LMS-150+GPS%2C+LMS-200%2C+LMS-300%2C+LMS-300+GPS%2C+LMS-350%2C+LMS-350A%2C+X-16+%28gray%29%2C+X-20%2C+X-20A%2C+X-22%2C+X-25%2C+X-35%2C+X-55%2C+++X-60%2C+X-70%2C+X-70A%2C+%26amp%3B+X-70A+3D+%28in+2D+connector%29&question=x25&resultType=5000#Goto266

Now to work out the best head unit option!

and if you wish to part with the transducer I would be interested in it.

Hi bootyou,

sorry, I managed to buy an X65 head unit from an Ausfisher and now have it working. It is a thru hull transducer, my main sounder has a transom mounted transducer using a different frequency, hence the reason I wanted to keep it.

Put up a request in the wanted section, you will be surprised what can turn up.

Cheers

Hi Outsider1 where is the thruogh hull transducer located.

Hi Outside580,

sorry only just saw your post.

It is through the planing plank slightly on the starboard side of middle, about a foot forward from the transom. I can see it through the bilge hatch.
