Went to Douglas Shoals Friday night ....

My mate and I left Gladstone at 2.30pm and pulled up at Doughlas Shoals at 4.30pm on Friday .... yes, we had a good trip out. We were straight onto the fish pulling in Sweetlip, Hussar, Cod, Red Emperor, Coaral Trout, Parrot Fish and of course Iodine Bream.
As soon as the sun went down so did the fish ...... we went all over the place and not one fish ..... we hooked a few big sharks which were fun but absolutely nothing. There was no moon at all, it was very dark so we thought that would be why so we went to bed.
Got up as the sun was looking over the horizon and away we were off again ... fish after fish. It wasn't long before we had our bag limit so we headed off to home.
There was Southerlies blowing and we were heading south, against 17kt winds, what a prick of a trip home !!!

Sore arms today but still good to get out on the water.

We got out to rumy but like you said that ESE during the night where we were was a mongrel with a southerly in the morning made for a bit of uncomfortable sitting
We got a good feed but no big reds

We got a 55cm Red which we throw back because we knew it would shrink on ice but was rewarded latter with a 60cm one latter. Got alot of juvenile red's though which is a good sign !

Hey Rumy.
Why dont you buy yourself a camera . Then you can take a photo before throwing them on ice as part of your defence.
Then you can post a few pickies on here as well to whet our appetites;D

Rumy, We did get out but bom said it was about 15knots thusday night so we
went to the morten star, when we go out there it was great but we had to stick
to our plan and stay in close, also we wernt prepaird to go out wide for the night.
we ended up with a few macreal and nannyigui. good trip for a few hours,

hit hook passage in me little tinny.... caught a lot of fish but all too short... had a bit of a rough trip back into 15knot winds.... got wet as per the norm... but was fun anyway.... hopefully we get some better weather.
