Best time of year to catch squid?

Was talking to a guy in the tackle store and he said the best time of year to get squid (In Brisbane / Raby bay) is late Winter to Spring? Is this right?

Are the Yozuri lures still the go? Should you get a glow in the dark one for night time fishing?
