Current Peel Is exclusion zone

Hi Folks
Can anyone set us straight please?
Up until '99 my mate & his dad always fished a small reef just short of the main Peel reef on the north western corner. They were moved along by fisheries that day claiming the area was now off limits. Hence we have fished the northern side ever since. Recently we have seen more & more boats fishing in what he believed to be the exclusion zone. Last trip on seeing all these boats we sounded out his old spot & found everyone fishing inside this mark.
Ok clearly the sign is posted there & all can see - my question is where & what do you line this sign up with, Hanlon Light? Spit Beacon ? the flashing white beacon on the corner ? & what is the 2 metre contour mark??
Would seriously appreciate your guidance.

2 M contour is where the seabed sharply comes up into about 2m, the reef shelf. Cannot miss it

It would probabely line up ith the other marker at the bottom end of peel near the green marker. I saw a large boat slam right through the shallow no go zone a few afternoons ago and thought there are a lot of guys who dont know the line and area as well. The plans they give you are so small you just have to keep further out to cover your self.

Peel Island protection zone

Boundary begins north of the old causeway (in the vicinity of Protection zone sign) and then runs along the 2m depth contour (at low tide)* around the Hanlon Light and within the Lazaret Gutter. Once it reaches the eastern most red beacon of the Lazaret Gutter it follows a line directly south to shore. The sunken reefs on the north-western side of Peel Island are also included and are enclosed by the 2m depth contour (at low tide)*.
