i have made the cable db9 for the connection between gps and computer, But don't know what software to use.
i have a standard horizon - i want a free software

It's not free but bluechart might work. it uses a serial interface. what are you trying to do with the software?

all i want to do is transfer waypoints from my computer to the chartplotter.
just lazy to entry every point onto the plotter

i have been looking at the 180.

What sorta gps is it? Try a great freebee program called "Trackmaker"
www.gpstm.com (http://www.gpstm.com) I think. Works with my garmins.

snapp i have a standard horizon cp180 - Great little gps - colour.
The only problem i have is it sometimes drops out for a miniute at certain places - It could be my installation of the gps antena. (it's under the canopy on the dash, next to the gps). Mite bring it outside.
I brought mine from oversea's
