Shattered.....31-03-08

Hit the rocks this afternoon and the work 'Shattered' sums up how I feel at the moment....:'(

I managed to spot a pod of about 8 longtails cruise past the ledge and spun one up on an 85g raider.
Fought the fish for a good hour and Richard (tunapikus) was watching further out in his tinny. I had him just about beat right near the gaffing zone and he did one little head shake and threw the lure....:'( :'(
I just watched him swim off.....:'( :'( ....Fish would have been a good 15kg...

After a good hour long fight and losing the fish like that I am not a happy fellow.
If you can remember that movie 'The Crying game' where Jim Carey gets curled up in a ball in the corner of the shower and crys that maybe me later on...:'( ;D

that is fishing ain't it! Sometimes the throw of the dice goes against you. I lost a longtail which I fought for over 2 hours a few years back lurecasting solo in my boat. Just couldn't quite get the gaff shot. I know it is alot more kudos landbased tho.

Yeah I have hooked and landed quite a few from the rocks.
But also lost many to sharks,pull outs,missed runs on livies etc....
But when you lose them they all hurt.

Anyway like Jeff said it fires you up to get back out there.

Thats fishing all right. You have to just keep on trying. You know it is a pretty fair fight when they are able to get away free at the end of the battle.

I had a 10 Kg Cobe do that to me after I tried to gaff him like 4 times and he would roll every time. Solo is a hard task to finish off the job sometimes.

Cobes are one of the worst fish to gaff I reckon.
I gaffed one solo on the rocks fairly recently....Dead the big snake rolls too...
